Family Guy, created by Seth McFarlane is a comedic animated series that has been on the air for many years now. While the title suggests the father of the household Peter Griffin is the main character, his entire family are the main plot to the stories told in this show. While they portray the characters of the show to all be inherently stupid in one way or the other, they use these qualities they have given the characters to create the stupidly obnoxious, but hilarious humor throughout the show. From the simple act of making a character fart in an opera theatre, to making the theatre be a fart opera the sky is the limit as to how the show tries to make you laugh.
But Family Guy doesn't only try to make its audience laugh by using blatant stupidity, they also connect the episodes to things that are going on in the world right now. There are a number of episodes that have had to do with the war in Iraq, 911, even the story of Jesus. For the reason that it is an animated show the possibilities are endless as to what they can do to get that laugh out of their audience. I love the show, and hope it stays around for awhile, but I know that all things cannot last forever.
